(untitled) Quartet, choreographed by Benjamin Ord, premiere: Laurie Grove Theatre, London, 2014
Performers: Sriwhana Spong (live performance and sculptures), Benjamin Ord (live performance), Jessica Wright (recorded performance shown on video monitor), Michael-John Harper (live performance via Skype projected on cyclorama)
(untitled) Quartet challenges the idea of a performance as a finished, repeatable and transactional object whose authenticity relates solely to its act of live transmission. The work collages together four performers through four distinct temporalities who occupy intersecting realms of the public and private. It investigates the use of figure and figuration as a means to refuse expressivity but nonetheless establish relation and encounter between body, object and viewer.
