Run through, Marfa, single channel video, duration: 9 mins, 2019

Run through, Marfa features bodies which linger between states, borders and time zones in defiance of the imagined sovereignty of isolation. It was shot in West Texas, U.S.A., in sites ranging from the Mexican and American border in El Paso, the Chinati Foundation and Paisano Hotel in Marfa, to the landscape surrounding the now destroyed ranch house from the 1955 film Giant. The dance material makes reference to George Balanchine’s earliest surviving work Apollo, drawing on and re-interpreting stripped back American neo-classicism.
