Backdrop/Solo, two-channel video installation, high definition video and Super 8 film transferred to digital, 9 min, 2021
Backdrop/Solo is made up of two videos shown on monitors impossible to watch together at the same time. The first is mounted on the wall featuring footage from the Borghese Gardens and the Galleria Doria Pamphilj in Rome. The second lies flat on the floor recording fragments of a floor based dance solo filmed on Super 8. In the viewer’s shifting attention between the two screens, the potential of liveness within the transmission of an image is explored.
